The Rifle

Before we even knew that JuneAnn had been selected for this hunt, the miracles started. For years I have wanted a rifle that would be more effective in taking very large game. I am a believer that each life is sacred, and that if I am to take a life in order to sustain my own, I should do so in the quickest, ethical, and efficient manner possible. Because of this I am a big believer in the 300 Winchester Magnum cartridge. I know that everyone has their pet cartridge and preferred platform, but I am a pragmatic person. I embrace what works. And the 300WM works. In December I had the opportunity to trade a rifle that I owned for a Bergara B14 HMR in 300WM. This is a heavier rifle that is best suited for range practice and less suited for walking long distances. However, due to the nature of this hunt, this rifle will work very well. JuneAnn has artificial shoulder joints. The heavy recoil of the 300WM has me concerned for the safety of her shoulders. So, I will be building this rifle in a manner that will dramatically reduce the felt recoil. Tag along and see how this works.
